You miss stuff when you ride in a car.
You miss the sounds, the sights, and the smells of your own surroundings. You miss the vibrant local life that’s flashing before your eyes. We want you to feel that. We want you to experience that. We want you to hear the music, to see the murals and to smell what’s cooking. All in your hometown. How can you do this? It’s easy, just walk or cycle wherever you are going.
Active travel, or walking and cycling as we know it, is about a fundamental shift in the way we get from point A to point B. It’s about reimagining how a city should function. How it should feel, how it should breadth and how it should move. The benefits to you from active travel are well known from health, environmental and financial aspects but there’s a social benefit as well that might be more difficult to quantify but is equally if not more beneficial in the long run.
When you walk through your community, or cycle through it regularly, every day you see a different side to it that you will never experience from inside a car or a bus.
We want to help get people off the sofa and into the saddle, off the car seat and onto their feet. We want to support people in encouraging active and sustainable lifestyles, and we want people to be visible and safe while they do it.
