It’s Bikeweek all this week so we hope you are enjoying it! There are hundreds of (mostly) free events and there is sure to be something that tickles your fancy.
If you don’t cycle much you can still have a great BikeWeek. You don’t have to cycle to the ends of the earth but for a start just try replacing one car or bus journey with a bike ride. Instead of driving to the shops, cycle.
Need to go to the post office to pay the TV license? You can turn a terrible buzz into an alright one by cycling to the post office! It won’t make it any easier or pleasurable to pay the TV license but you will feel a small bit better because you used your bike.
We’ve picked out a few events that we like the sound of during BikeWeek but you can check online at www.bikeweek.ie for your local events. It’s also Bikeweek in the UK so check www.bikeweek.org.uk for events there.
Cocktails and a leisurely cycle along the grand canal stopping for one course in each of a number of different restaurants sounds quality. It’s the “Tour de Romance” a strictly a no lycra event this Thursday June 20th in Lucan, County Dublin. You could meet that special someone and need a bicycle made for two!
The shortest night of the year is June 21st and this specially organised event lets teenagers celebrate the summer solstice with a midnight cycle in Dungarvan, County Waterford.
It’s National Bike To Work & School Day tomorrow so we hope you can get out on your bike and make your daily commute on two wheels. The Bike To Work Day lunchtime cycle on June 19th, is a leisurely 5km cycle around Dublin city centre with free goodie bags for the first 500 to register. This cycle leaves Grand Canal Square at 12:45pm.
There are a huge amount of other events happening all this week so check out www.bikeweek.ie for more details.
To celebrate BikeWeek we are having a special sale with up to 40% off selected items on www.motionfox.com
Happy Cycling everyone!
